SUTTON Way Villa had a weekend to remember.

On Saturday, two James Wilson goals secured League Cup final success in a 2-0 defeat of Tarvin Athletic 2000. But on Monday, despite Mark Knox netting a phenomenal six times, Villa crashed 7-6 at home to Hoole Rangers in the Premier Division match of the day.

Newton Bears also hit six as they inflicted Highfield Athletic’s first defeat of the season, 6-2, thanks to a Nathan Mapletoft hat-trick, Nick Ashford, Ian Ridler and Leon Whitley.

In Division One, Parkgate gained promotion with a 4-0 win at Saughall and Bebington hit a late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Frodsham.

Saturday’s action saw Premier side Crossway crash 4-1 to Hoole Rangers (Pete Wheeler 2, Mark Roberts, Warren Fowles). AFC Bebington beat Duddon United 4-0 in Division One, and Jamie Jaggard netted twice as Parkgate beat Robin Hood 2-0.

Cestrian Alex beat Frodsham United 7-1. Paul Finch (3), Lee Jackson (2), Richard Deponeo and Will Kelly did the damage, and Saughall Thursday drew 2-2 with Chester Nomads 3rds. Joe Cousins and Joe Turner for Saughall, John Roberts and Mike Sixsmith replied.

In Division Two, FC Pensby lost 4-2 to, Chester Nomads 4ths beat Rangers Brakes 3-0 and Division Three’s Manor House were 7-2 winners against Lodge Bar.
