CHESTER Nomads and Christleton made Pyke Cup progress on Saturday.

Goals by Kieran Smith and Steve Cunningham handed Nomads a 2-1 home victory over Cammell Laird Reserves in round one.

The Swans booked their place in round two with a 3-1 win over Maghull at Little Heath, Tim Bigland (2) and Jack Ford scoring for the Chester side.

Upton AA crashed to a 4-0 home loss to West Kirby while Blacon YC went down 2-1 to Mossley Hill Athletic. Aiden Shannon got the Blacon goal.

In the West Cheshire League, fifth-placed Helsby recorded a 4-1 home success over Heswall Reserves in Division Two.

Ian Cox (2), John Coady and Jamie McCarthy got the goals.

Peter Rutter was on target for Willaston in their 1-1 draw at Maghull Reserves, while Capenhurst Villa triumphed 2-1 at Richard Raith Rovers.

In Division Two, strikes by Mike Apollonio and Sam Burgess were not enough for Chester Nomads Reserves were not enough in a 4-2 loss to Neston Nomads.

Capenhurst Villa reserves lost 2-1 to Belfry and Upton AA Reserves went down 3-0 at Widnes Town. Christleton Reserves drew 1-1 with South Liverpool Reserves.
