MIDWEEK action produced a double defeat for Chester’s Division One sides as Christleton lost 2-1 at Poulton Vics and Blacon YC went down 1-0 at home to Newton.

Capenhurst Villa beat West Kirby Res 3-2 in Division Two and Upton AA Res and Division Three rivals Christleton Res drew 2-2.

At the weekend, Upton AA cemented runners-up spot in Division One with a 3-1 success at fifth-placed Cammell Laird Res. Simon Andrews netted twice and Reggie Smart completed the scoring.

Capenhurst Villa went nap at lowly Bronze Social as Jamie Johnson, Glyn James, Tom McGill, Danny Higginson and an own goal ensured a 5-0 win.

Chester Nomads were held to a goalless draw at Southport Trinity and Alan Bond was a hat-trick hero as Helsby beat West Kirby Res 3-1.

In Division Three, bottom side Blacon YC Res took on third-bottom Focus and shared the honours in a six-goal fixture. Ellis Dunning, Chris Dunning and Damion Rowley hit the back of the net for Blacon.

Andy Newlam scored twice as Capenhurst Villa Res beat Richmond RR Jacobs 2-1 and Upton AA Res won a 4-3 thriller at Ellesmere Port Res. Michael Thompson (2), Simon Law and Nathan Freeman netted.

As reported in this week’s Chronicle Xtra, Chester Nomads emerged victorious in the FA Senior Cup final against Upton AA last Wednesday. John Cadwallader (2) and Gareth Barton secured the 3-0 win.
