A CHESTER-BORN footballer has signed for Championship high flyers Crystal Palace.
Antonio Pedroza Whitham, who was brought up in Blacon before moving to live in Mexico with his family as a child, penned a three-year contract with the Eagles before transfer deadline day – but it was not until yesterday that international clearance for the deal came through.
Pedroza Whitlam, whose English mother Katrina now lives in Thornton-le-Moors near Elton, has joined Palace from Mexican club Jaguares for an undisclosed fee.
Pedroza Whitlam, 20, said: “It’s really nice to have a chance to prove myself in English football.”
Vauxhall Motors were beaten 4-1 at a slick Guiseley side in Blue Square North on Saturday.
Already without a number of players through injury and suspension, Anthony Wright’s side’s cause wasn’t helped when Lee Dames was shown a red card.
