A SCHOOLBOY goalkeeper amazed his teachers and team-mates by scoring from his own half – twice!

Otis Chamberlain, 16, from Frodsham, netted a rare brace while playing for Abbey Gate College in a friendly away match against Oswestry School.

The former Chester FC youth team player scored a goal in each half – both booming kicks from his own penalty area which travelled the length of the full-size pitch and bounced over the Oswestry keeper – to help his team secure a 4-4 draw.

Abbey Gate College deputy head Gavin Allmand, who was at the game, said: “Otis has always had a prodigious kick and while we are not a team that plays the long ball game, there are times when the direct approach proves to be very effective!”

After scoring in the first half, Otis proved it was no fluke by doubling his tally – against a different keeper – after the break.

Mr Allmand added: “Never before had anyone on the sideline witnessed such a feat. I wonder whether this has ever been achieved before?”
