THE FA Youth Cup, the competition that launched the careers of the likes of Paul Gascoigne, Ryan Giggs, David Beckham and Wayne Rooney, is coming to Ellesmere Port on Sunday.

Vauxhall FC have entered a team in the tournament for the first time and face Crosby rivals Marine in a noon showdown at Rivacre Park. And the club is hoping that a good crowd will turn out to cheer the lads on.

The young Motormen, coached by Jimmy Butler, come into the cup, currently held by Manchester United, at the first qualifying round stage.

Should they progress, there will be two more Rivacre Park dates in the following rounds with a home draw in the second qualifying round against either Farsley Celtic or Garforth Town to be completed by September 20.

If Vauxhall go as far as the third qualifying round they would entertain one of Harrogate Railway, Worksop Town, North Ferriby United or Consett, to be played by October 4.

Vauxhall have added yet another team to the club by fielding a side in the Lancashire League for the first time.

The league, which features reserve sides of Conference and UniBond League clubs in the North West will be used to prepare the Motormen's less experienced players to make the step up into the UniBond Premier Division.

Gary Siner has been appointed Lancashire League coach and the side made a flying start to the campaign with a hat-trick of victories over Chorley, Northwich Victoria and Workington with Colin Quirk scoring in all three matches.

The Motormen then lost to a very strong Chester City side but still head the division after a hard-fought away draw against an experienced Bradford outfit, thanks to an Ian Cocks strike.

Vauxhall's Lancashire League side travel to Lancaster City tonight.
