January 2007: He becomes club captain after David Weir leaves the Blues for Glasgow Rangers.
October 2008: Neville is booked for a tackle on Cristiano Ronaldo that transformed a football match, and maybe a season. Everton were trailing 1-0 to Manchester United at Goodison, when the skipper tossed in what Ron Atkinson liked to call “a reducer.” United were rattled, Neville crossed for Marouane Fellaini to equalise and a side which hadn’t won in eight matches suddenly won three in a row.
September 2011: A curling, left-footed finish to seal a come from behind Carling Cup victory over West Bromwich Albion. Neville doesn’t score many goals, but this was worth waiting for.
Boxing Day 2012: Neville adds his name to a group of magnificent seven players to have made 500 appearances in the Premier League.
