ALBION registered one of their best results of the season on Friday and showed maybe they are worth a place in the play-offs after all.
Their new attacking formation quickly had third-placed Farsley defending in numbers.
In the 12th minute, Lee Spike found Mike Moseley on the right and as Moseley's curling cross deceived keeper Liam Sutcliffe, Danny Byrne slid in but his effort finished in the side netting.
Two minutes later, Byrne this time was the provider, playing a high ball into the danger zone that Sutcliffe suddenly fumbled. But Moseley, with the danger seemingly gone, was unable to get a fully blown shot in and the ball drifted wide.
Paul Gibson had to keep alert as several raids down Farsley's flanks threatened and he pulled off a flying save to deny Michael Midwood.
Moseley played Spike in on 24 minutes but his goal bound effort took a deflection off Celtic captain Chris Stabb to go for a corner.
There was an amazing decision by the referee just before the half-time whistle when he rightly awarded Albion an indirect free-kick after Sutcliffe had collected a back pass. But he then made Witton take it on the touchline, a good five yards past where the offence occurred!
The second half started in a similar vein and it took a good save by Sutcliffe to deny Byrne what would have been a fine debut goal.
However, on the 51st minute when another attack had been beaten away, from the resultant flag-kick Baker sent a perfect cross for Spike to head power-fully home, making it four goals from six starts for the tall striker who has added a new dimension to Albion's set-pieces.
Try as they could, Farsley were constantly thwarted by the Albion defence, ably backed by some good challenges by Anton Lally who was making his league debut.
Gibson held virtually everything that came his way but managed to get himself a rare booking when he brought down Martin Pemberton just outside the penalty area.
