LIVERPOOL LADIES have completed a major coup by England internationals Fara Williams and Natasha Dowie from Merseyside rivals Everton.
The pair have moved on free transfers, and will spearhead a new-look Reds side for the 2013 FA WSL campaign.
Williams, 28, is widely regarded as one of the leading women’s footballers in the country. The midfielder has 107 caps for England, with 36 goals, and is a former captain of her country. She has been with Everton for the past eight years. Dowie, meanwhile, has been on the cusp of Hope Powell’s international setup for the past couple of seasons. The 24-year-old, niece of former Northern Ireland international forward Iain, has suffered with injuries over the past year, but is looking to relaunch her career at Liverpool.
The moves are just the latest in a long line of big changes at the Reds. Having finished last season bottom of the FA WSL, they have since replaced manager Robbie Johnson with Matt Beard, and signed England youth international Gemma Bonner from Chelsea while USA star Whitney Engen has also signed.
