Tarporley Vics 2 Golbourne Sports 3
GOLBOURNE won at the Flacca for the third successive time on Saturday.
With high winds sweeping around the ground, the visitors settled quickly with the wind behind them.
They went ahead on 16 minutes when a cross from the right blew into the near-post corner of the net, giving keeper Callum Reckless no chance.
Matty Jones then attempted to clear a cross from a short corner but diverted the ball into his own net to double the visitors’ lead. It got worse on 35 minutes when Sports went 3-0 up after being presented with a free header.
The wind was playing havoc with the flight of the ball but, despite this, Vics pulled a goal back before the break, Andy Clacher’s cross met by the head of Al Moore.
They added a second almost instantly – Henry Buckley retrieving the ball and racing through to prod home for 3-2 – but were unable to find a leveller.
Malpas 0 Crewe FC 3
A STRONG start and a strong finish by Malpas showed promise – but it was in the middle of the game where they suffered.
After squandering two good chances in the opening 20 minutes, Malpas backed off and allowed Crewe to get a foothold.
Luck also played its part as, on 34 minutes, a corner was poked towards goal by Gary Gordon.
The ball trickled along the goal-line and the referee awarded a Crewe goal, sending Malpas into the interval 1-0 down.
After the break, Crewe continued to force the issue, bagging two more through PJ Hudson and Adie Socha.
