THE FA look like compromising over the Brian Pritchard Scandal.

Informed opinion at Soho Square is that Pritchard's punishment will be reduced to the sending off only, that being sufficient enough after his clash with a streaker in the Cheshire Senior Cup final.

That will spare him a three-game ban for violent conduct while not openly defending referee Steve Cummins.

Pritchard has become an unwitting international celebrity with TV and newspaper pundits mainly taking his side.

'Common sense was not used on the night. You'd hope it was now,' said Albion manager John Davison.

The Chronicle understands the incident is the kind of case the FA would have preferred to avoid. Witton have forced their hand by appealing on the grounds of wrongful dismissal, yet no-one can deny Pritchard made contact with the man.

By supporting Witton, the FA fears setting a precedent, tacitly approving of play-ers themselves using force to deal with pitch invaders.
