Chester FC will travel to fellow National League club Altrincham in the FA Cup fourth qualifying round.

The draw was completed this morning and the tie will take place at Moss Lane on Saturday, October 24.

Altrincham, who are three places below Steve Burr's team in the table, defeated the Blues in both league meetings last season.

The Blues will be looking to match last season's achievements in the FA Cup, when a four game run in the competition earned the club more than £100,000.

Sean McConville's double, Matty Hughes and Ben Heneghan netted in a thrilling 4-2 success at Stockport County at the final qualifying stage .

Craig Mahon then starred in a 2-1 win at League Two side Southend United in the next round , scoring the winner 24 hours after his wife gave birth to twins.

Chester travelled to Barnsley in the second round and would have pulled off another shock but for the performance of goalkeeper Ross Turnbull, who helped the Tykes hold on for a goalless draw with a series of crucial saves.

And the League One club made sure there was no repeat in the replay with two Dale Jennings goals and one from Kane Hemmings wrapping up a comfortable 3-0 win.

The income from the FA Cup allowed Burr to strengthen his squad during the January transfer window and he will be hoping for a similar budget boost this term.
