ON PAGE 10 of the ECHO, June 13, we stated that the Government would have taken control of the Everton training complex at Finch Farm if the owners, Finch Farm Ltd, had been struck off.

We now know that the Finch Farm complex was mortgaged and would have reverted to bank ownership had Finch Farm Ltd ceased to trade.

In the same article we stated that Everton would pay the new landlords, Liverpool City Council, ‘smaller instalments over a longer period’. We accept that this is not the case and the new deal is 40 years, as opposed to the original 50-year term.

In both instances we are happy to set the record straight and apologise for any confusion caused.
