EVERTON FC are on the brink of sealing Steven Pienaar's permanent Goodison return, after they agreed a fee with Spurs for the popular midfielder.

The 30-year-old is set to travel back to Merseyside on Monday for a medical before putting pen to paper by Tuesday at the latest.

Blues chairman Bill Kenwright has been locked in negotiations with his Spurs counterpart Daniel Levy since the transfer window opened and the pair have finally settled on a deal for the player who first left Everton in January 2011.

Pienaar did not travel to the United States last weekend for Tottenham's pre-season tour, but speculation that Sunderland and QPR were set to hijack a move caused concern among Everton supporters.

But Pienaar used his own Twitter page to relay a story on a website promoted by his own agent Rob Moore, which confirmed his desire to return to David Moyes' fold was to be fulfilled.
