EVERTON will face Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup quarter-finals after seeing off Oldham Atheltic in tonight’s fifth round replay.

First-half goals from Kevin Mirallas and Leighton Baines were backed up by Leon Osman’s header after the break.

And though Oldham’s Matt Smith headed home from a corner, as he had done 10 days ago to force the replay, the Blues’ passage to the last eight of the competition never looked in doubt.

David Moyes’ men now welcome Wigan to Goodison Park on Saturday, March 9 with the winners booking their place at Wembley for the semi-finals.

After a high tempo start from both sides, it was Everton who took the lead after 15 minutes when Mirallas converted Seamus Coleman’s wicked cross into the six yard area.

The Belgium international produced a classy side foot finish to turn the ball past Dean Bouzanis.

Oldham so nearly restored parity just seconds later when Jose Baxter, on his return to Goodison Park after leaving the club last summer, hit the inside of the post with a curling effort.

Fortunately, Everton doubled their lead 10 minutes before the break when Leighton Baines squeezed home a penalty after Connor Brown had handled in the area.

Not long after the break, Phil Jagielka wasted a good to make it 3-0 when he blazed over from eight yards after Nikica Jelavic had created room in a packed Oldham area.

The League One visitors remained determined despite being 2-0 down and Lee Croft fizzed an effort just wide of Tim Howard’s post.

Osman’s glancing header, his 50th goal for the club, made it 3-0 just passed the hour mark but Oldham replied two minutes later as giant striker Matt Smith scored with worrying ease with a header from a corner.

Everton remained in control of the game but were unable to add to their lead with Darron Gibson guilty of missing a good chance from Jelavic’s neat lay-off.
