THE Easter weekend kicks off with a city derby at Chester Boughton Hall this morning.

Christleton take on Upton AA – rivals in Division One of the West Cheshire League – in the Chester Senior Cup semi-finals (11am).

The Swans warmed up by returning to winning ways on Saturday with a 2-1 league victory at Newton, Andy Shelton and Kia Stockton scoring the goals.

Fifth-placed Upton’s semi-final preparations were less rewarding as they lost 2-1 defeat at Castrol Social. Ace marksman Danny Andrews was on target again for the Chester side.

Blacon YC were also on the receiving end despite a fine goal from Russ Whitely. Replies from Mike Pickles, Peter McNulty and Tommy Rowlands earned Heswall a 3-1 triumph.

In Division Two, Christleton Reserves gave it their best shot against New Brighton Reserves and had Josh Cullen on the mark, but the visitors secured maximum spoils in a 2-1 win.

The respective marksmen in Chester Nomads’ 1-1 stalemate at Halton were Eden Fenlon and Matty Johnson. Elsewhere, Helsby bagged a good point at Grange Athletic after a Simon Paige effort negated a strike from the hosts’ Craig Webb.

Ninety minutes failed to produce a goal between Mersey Royal and Upton AA Reserves in Division Three, while St Werburgh’s mini revival was interrupted by Fairfield Athletic Reserves, who were inspired to a 5-2 victory by hat-trick hero Ashton Gibiliru. Leon Whitely and Leon Gough consolidated for Saints .
