DRAY made it a long haul for Halton Railway with a 9-1 victory which took them top of The Courier Post Runcorn League.

MoM Robbie Cosgrove hit five with Paul Crewe (2), Nicky Wilson and Gary Jones completing the rout which leaves Halton Railway bottom of the Premier Division pile.

Division One's Brookvale chalked up their first win - 3-2 at New Inn.

Inspired by in-form keeper Shaun Harrington, they played well collectively. Goals from Graham Stapleton, Craig Ireland and Thomas Pinnington sealed the win.

Lionel Job's two-goal salvo for Halfway Vets was enough to swing a close encounter with Weston Village.

Ste Johnson and Derek Schooler (pen) completed Halfway's 4-3 win. Lee Ireland (2) and John Miller replied.

There were no major surprises in the Paddy Heffernan/ Dave Benson Memorial Cup, but DUK Brewer had to come from behind to win 4-1.

They dominated Bridge Boys for most of the first half but chances went begging while the Boys defended resolutely.

Bridge's Scott Swales flashed a shot wide while strike partner Phil Brake hit the woodwork.

After the break, Swales ran clean through to calmly slot past Brewer's advancing keeper Barnes.

The goal kickstarted Brewer and when Taylor's cross wasn't cleared, Nickson cut into the 18-yard box to drill right-footed into the bottom corner. Eight minutes later, Nickson made it 2-1 after Cuttress's lay-off.

In the 75th minute, Jay Allen played into the feet of Towey whose clever flick-on enabled Cuttress to finish.

The fourth came five minutes later. Gary Ellison found Towey in space on the right from where he advanced to lob the keeper from 20 yards.

Men of the match were DUK Brewer's Ellison and Bridge Boys' Rob Darlington.

Goals from Barry Rose and Antony Bond handed Tricorn a 2-1 win over Reos while Carl Neal, Lee Deardon (2) and Ste Wright steered Roosters to a 4-2 win at home to Kydd's. Halton Barley restored confidence with a 5-0 romp at in-form Royal Oak, who had been seeking a second Premier Division scalp in as many weeks.

A sublime free kick from Gregg Short eased Barley nerves, then Ged Bushell's long-range strike somehow crept in. When a cross by Paul Illidge caught the wind and drifted in at the corner, it looked as if the floodgates may open.

Royal Oak rallied to have the better of the scoreless remainder of the half but Bushell claimed his second and Ben Stubbs got one.

* Warrington Touchline Sports Leaguers Halton Sports struck eight unanswered Dennis Scholes Cup second-round goals at Fleece.
