EIGHT Chester City players have been told by manger Keith Curle that they have a future with the Coca-Cola League Two club with another who is out-of-contract being offered a new deal.

Keeper Chris Mackenzie together with defenders Phil Bolland, Stephen Vaughan and Sean Hessey will all report back for training next month, as will midfield players Stewart Drummond, Ben Davies and Ryan Lowe.

Leading scorer Michael Branch has also been told that he figures in Curle's plans. Wing-back Carl Regan, who is out of contract, has been offered a new deal.

However, a number of established first-team players haven't been retained. City skipper Paul Carden, Richard Hope, Darren Edmondson and goal-keeper Wayne Brown don't figure in the club's future plans. And youngsters Robbie Booth and Michael Walsh are named among the 20 players who are being released.

Meanwhile, Chester City director Richard Lynes has resigned from the board after spending three years as the representative of the club's Supporters Trust.

Lynes said: "I would like to publicly thank Stephen Vaughan (Chester chairman) for all the help he has given to me whilst I acted as a director. Stephen was most supportive, and I will still be around to assist him and the club in any way I can in the future."
