FIRST division Black Bear needed a penalty shootout to knock second division Broughton Arms out of the league cup.

The game finished 4-4 after extra time but the Bear play-ers remained the most calm during the sudden-death penalties.

Scorers for Black Bear were Huff (2), Hutchings and Rutter. Tonks and Callaghan both netted a brace apiece for the Arms.

Alsager CC went through to the next round with a 4-1 win over Devonshire Arms. On target for the Cricket Club were Prendergast (2), Lawton and Barber.

In the Division One Cup, Crewe Utd lost 3-2 to Scholar Green. Brooks and Pennell netting for Crewe, with Trigg (2) and Gunner replying for Scholar Green.

Alsager Old Corinthians overcame Military Arms 3-1, Old Corinthians goals came from a Banford double and one from Goodwin. In Division Two, a brace from Hope helped Blazer beat The Three Pigeons 4-1, with Quinn and Gaffey making up the scoreline. Goals from Hughes (2), Back and Maddocks saw the Mere win 4-3 over LMR. Boyd, Fox and Woolly all netted for the LMR.
