FORMER Crewe schoolboy Mark Cueto has been selected to make his first Six Nations appearance, against Wales on Saturday.

Sale Sharks winger Cueto, who used to play for Sandbach, has been picked alongside Sharks captain Jason Robinson and Charlie Hodgson for the tournament opener on Saturday.

England, who finished third last season after a Grand Slam in 2003, have the hardest opening schedule of any side, with the visit of France, on February 13, sandwiched by trips to Wales and Ireland, on February 27.

Coach Andy Robinson said: 'Cardiff will be no place for the faint-hearted. It is an awesome atmo-sphere, the Millennium Stadium is a great place to play and Wales believe they have a chance.'

The 24-year-old grew up in Crewe and has enjoyed a meteoric rise since taking up rugby union seven years ago. A former St Thomas More schoolboy, his mother and father live at Westholme Close.
