CREWE put a run of three successive defeats behind them with a 1-0 success over rock-bottom Curzon.
Nat Poole's first-half strike proved to be the difference in her side's penultimate match of the season. It came on 22 minutes, when Beth Clark's pass released Poole and she eluded her marker and coolly slotted home.
Hayley Kemp and Nat Tomkins both went close, but keeper Kelly Roberts had to make a super save to preserve the lead going in to the interval.
Poole was denied by Ashton keeper Shauna Thornhill after the restart, while Lisa Harrison went close at the other end.
Beth Ragdale spurned a golden chance to seal the points when Thornhill won a one-on-one battle and tipped round the post. But Crewe held on.
Alex reserves earned a decent 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough reserves. After a goalless first-half, Crewe fell behind but bounced back through South Cheshire College student Nicola Kennerley after a Jessica Myatt cross. Jen Monaghan rattled the bar late on.
Crewe Alexandra will hold a three-day summer training camp at Reaseheath College between the June 29 and July 1.
The long weekend will consist of nutrition, psychological and tactical studies, along with fitness and technical sessions and friendlies against top-flight opposition.
