CHESTER CITY'S search for players to boost their dwindling squad, which is currently suffering from suspension and injuries, continues today when they give trials to a couple of players from non-League AFC Wimbledon.

Midfielder Robert Ursell and defender Michael Woolner have been training with City this week and both will play in this afternoon's home reserve team game against Bury.

Ursell, a 21-year-old who was born in Granada, Spain turned down a trial with first division MK Dons earlier this season. He has scored 15 goals from 22 appearances this season which has drawn a number of scouts to watch the Ryman League Division One leaders' matches.

Woolner, who is 25, can play as a central defender or right-back, he had a short spell as a junior with Watford before dropping into non-League football.

Both players have been recommended to City by their southern-based scout. If one or both players impress, Chester will have to pay a fee to Wimbledon as both are under contract.

Wimbledon manager Dave Anderson said last night: "I wouldn't stand in anyone's way of making it as a professional, I want players to progress and further their careers."

Meanwhile, City's assistant manager Mark Aizlewood was present at a Pontin's League match in Yorkshire last night, monitoring two players with Coca-Cola Championship experience.

Manager Ian Rush said: "I'm still looking at various players who I think will improve my squad. Some players are available and some aren't, I would like to find a player who is quick as well as strong and tall."

City's home Coca-Cola League Two game against Shrewsbury Town, which is scheduled for Saturday, December 11 has been made all-ticket on police advice.

Tickets will go on sale at the club's offices from tomorrow during normal office hours.
