CHESTER CITY are expected to bolster their squad in the next 24 hours with two new signings.
Swindon Town defender Andy Nicholas and former Hull City wing-back Carl Regan will join the City squad in training today and it is under-stood that formalities may be completed today or tomorrow.
Nicholas, 21, started his career with Liverpool, before joining Swindon where he was an integral part of the side that reached the second division play-offs last year. This season the Merseyside-born player has spent a spell on loan with Chesterfield.
Regan, 25, had a short spell on loan with City last season, and after starting his career with Everton he moved on to Barnsley, before joining Hull two years ago.
The duo will be the 12th and 13th signings made by Chester since Ian Rush and his assistant Mark Aizlewood joined the club in August.
City chairman Stephen Vaughan said last night: "We need to liven things up in our playing squad and these two players bring with them experience that will hopefully pep up the existing squad.
"They both bring Football League experience with them, which will be of great benefit to us."
Vaughan continued: "The transfer deadline falls in 10 days' time, so it could well be that this pair aren't the last of our signings this year."
City have suffered an alarming loss of form lately, registering only two wins in their last 13 competitive outings. They currently sit six points away from the relegation zone.
Chester entertain Notts County on Saturday.
