CHESTER City manager Mark Wright hopes to have a new player in his squad, prior to tonight's Nationwide Conference match at Telford United.
Southport midfielder Brian McGorry is due to have further talks with Wright this morning and, if terms can be agreed, the 31-year-old will be included in the travelling party to Shropshire.
McGorry only joined Southport in the summer from Telford United. He has recently been out on loan at another Conference club, Woking.
City have a slight fitness doubt over Stuart Whittaker, who sustained a calf problem against Barnet on Saturday.
The midfielder is expected to shake off the injury, however, and make the starting line-up.
Chester have won their last two competitive matches and have kept clean sheets in both games.
Wright said: "The clean sheets in the last couple of matches is pleasing, and we appear to be beginning to get things together.
"Another positive result against Telford will again raise our confidence levels."
City's 1-0 win against Barnet lifted them out of the Conference's bottom three for the first time in seven weeks.

*RUNCORN play their first home UniBond League Premier Division match for seven weeks tonight, against old rivals Altrincham.
And the Linnets will be looking to end a run of three consecutive defeats - two in the league - which have sent Liam Watson's men tumbling to 15th place in the table.
"We just need to grind out a win from somewhere to get back on an even keel," said player-boss Watson.
Watson has a full squad from which to select, including striker Kevin Leadbetter, who joined from Southport on a permanent basis last week after a short loan spell earlier in the season.
