Who's playing?

Chester FC v Torquay United.

When and where?

Saturday, October 8 (3pm) at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

Any team news?

Both Ryan Lloyd and Tom Shaw were withdrawn at half time during Tuesday night's 1-0 win at North Ferriby United after picking up knocks but Blues boss Jon McCarthy is hopeful the pair will be available for selection.

A new goalkeeper could also be among the ranks with the Chester boss mulling over options on a couple of potential targets.

Sam Hughes and Ryan Astles are likely to continue at centre back while Oluwaseun Akintunde has done his chances of a second successive start no harm at all after netting the winner on Tuesday.

Tell me about Torquay United...

The Blues and Torquay have met numerous times down the years with both clubs having spent the bulk of their time in the Football League.

The Gulls have been up and down so far this season under boss Kevin Nicholson but they will arrive at Chester in confident mood having earned a 1-0 success at home to Dagenham & Redbrige on Tuesday, a result that toppled the Daggers from the summit of the National League.

The Gulls will be looking to powerful striker Nathan Blissett to provide their firepower having bagged three goals this season.

What has Jon McCarthy had to say about it?

"I did my Uefa A Licence with Robbie Herrera their assistant and we share a bit of information and have the odd phone call," he said.

"They have got good players and were able to assemble a strong squad and they will come here with a group of players who other stronger teams would have coveted.

"We spoke to some of their players over the summer but weren't able to attract them to this football club.

"They have got a lot of strengths there and they have been playing some good football so it will be tough."

What happened the last time we met?

A dismal 2-0 defeat at Plainmoor on April 5 was to be Steve Burr's swansong as Chester boss as he was sacked as Blues boss later that week.

The Blues were awful in Devon and goals from Blissett and Iffy Allen earned a deserved three points for the home side.
