CHESTER FC are likely to be unchanged for tonight’s trip to Ashton United.

Blues boss Neil Young is expected to keep faith with the side which started the 6-0 home success over North Ferriby United on Saturday.

Alex Brown is pushing for a place in the 16-man matchday squad after tests revealed his injured foot is bruised and not broken.

The midfielder could force his way on to the bench if the pain-killing injection he had last night worked.

Victory for Chester would move them within a point of current leaders Chorley and as high as third in the early standings.

But they will not have it easy against an Ashton side defending a 100% home winning record.

The Robins sit level on points with the Blues, but their manager Danny Johnson admits his men will be underdogs this evening.

Johnson told Ashton’s official website: “I have had Chester watched two or three times this season and although they are having a mixed time results-wise, they have the best group of players in this league.

“They have five centre- forwards who are all capable of getting at least 20 goals this season and they could quite easily field two quality teams at the same time.

“As a player and a manager these are the games you look forward to and I am sure my lads will be ready to meet the challenge they will face from a very talented Chester team.’

Young has also had Ashton watched, but last night headed off to Victory Park with assistant manager Gary Jones to watch Chorley draw their top-of-the-table clash with Northwich Victoria 0-0.
