Chester FC will face former manager Neil Young's Altrincham as part of their pre-season schedule.

The Blues have announced the first part of their pre-season plans, with four away games against non-league opposition, and are expected to add home games with three Football League sides in due course.

As well as Young's Alty side, Chester will face Sandbach United, Marine and Nantwich Town during pre-season as Jon McCarthy prepares for his first season as Blues boss following his appointment at the weekend.

While no kick-off times have yet been announced, Chester will travel to Cheshire League side Sandbach United on Saturday, July 9, before heading to Moss Lane the following Saturday (July 16) to take on National League North side Altrincham, who hired Young, who won three successive league titles with the Blues, earlier this month.

The Blues then travel to Evo-Stik Northern Premier League side Marine, managed by ex-Chester City player Sean Hessey, on Saturday, July 23, before travelling to Phil Parkinson's Nantwich Town on Tuesday, July 26.

The four games form part of what is expected to be a seven-game pre-season schedule.
