NEIL Young has been hunting new players despite spending the week on a family holiday in the Canaries.

The Chester FC boss is making progress in his search for a new goalkeeper.

“We are in discussions with a couple who played Conference football last season but as yet nothing has been finalised,” said Young, speaking to The Chronicle from Tenerife.

The Blues manager is also hoping to recruit a new left-back to provide competition for Chris Williams, who has signed a one-year extension to his contract.

A centre-back and right winger are also on Young’s shopping list.

“These are all players to complement the players we currently have and make us stronger as a squad,” said the manager.

“I am still to speak to around five members of the current squad regarding next year and that will happen next week.”

Chester are also in ‘advanced talks’ with an outfield player who played in the Conference last season.
