THREE trialists will join up with the Chester FC squad that returns to training tonight.

Tom Smith, Jordan Connerton and Cliff Moyo are the players who will be attempting to impress Blues boss Neil Young during pre-season.

Smith is a right-sided defender who was on the books of Manchester City.

Young became aware of the 20-year-old’s availability after a tip-off from former Chester goalkeeper Adam Judge.

Connerton, meanwhile, is looking for a club following his release from Crewe Alexandra.

Young has long admired the 22-year-old striker, who signed for Crewe in 2010 in a £35,000-deal from Lancaster City but was unable to make an impact at Gresty Road.

Zimbabwe-born Moyo, 19, is available on a free from Barrow.

The pacy right-back or centre-back, who Young has looked at in the past, made nine appearances for the Bluebirds in the Blue Square Bet Premier last season.

Chester will kick-off their pre-season programme away to West Cheshire League Division One champions Ashville on Thursday, July 12 (7pm).

Chester FC Under 10s ran out 4-3 winners at a Manchester City U10s development side on Monday.

Blues director Mark Howell said: “It is a great experience for our boys and their coaches and to win 4-3 like they did is a real credit to the hard work and dedication of the players, coaches and their families.”

The Blue Square Bet North fixtures for next season will be released on Monday.
