NEIL Young has promised to make a swift decision on the future of Chester FC’s trio of trialists.
The Blues boss planned to take another look at Cliff Moyo, Danny Ting and Stephen Connor in last night’s Exacta Stadium friendly against a Liverpool XI before deciding whether to sign any of them up.
Young’s desire to bring in a striker is likely to count against defenders Moyo and Ting.
“It’s no good me having three right-backs and no centre forward,” said the Chester manager, who has seen frontmen Adam Proudlock (thigh) and Nathan Jarman (groin) pick up niggles during the pre-season campaign.
Young will decide by the end of the week whether he can find space in his budget to sign former Barrow right-back Moyo, ex-Crewe Alex left-back Ting or Connor, a young forward who was once on Everton’s books.
“We will be making a decision this week because if they are going to stay, they will get in with the group,” said Young.
“If they’re going to be leaving the football club they need to be given the option of joining another football club as soon as possible.
“It’s like anything with part-time football – everything comes down to money.”
The Blues continue their pre-season programme by facing an Aston Villa XI at the Exacta on Saturday (3pm) and travelling to Airbus UK Broughton next Tuesday (7pm).
Last night’s friendly against a Liverpool XI was played after The Chronicle had gone to press.
