Michael Wilde has become the latest addition to the Chester FC alumni at ambitious Welsh Premier League outfit Gap Connah's Quay.

The Blues legend, who was inducted into the club's hall of fame in March 2015 , signed for Nomads following his departure from The New Saints and takes the number of ex-Chester men in the squad to nine.

Centre forward Wilde links up with keeper John Danby, defenders George Horan, John Disney, Paul Linwood and Wes Baynes, and midfielders Callum Morris, Danny Harrison and Jay Owen at the Deeside Stadium.

Nomads qualified for Europe for the first time at the end of last season and manager Andy Morrison snapped up Wilde and Ian Kearney from rivals Airbus UK Broughton as he strengthens his team ahead of the club's maiden Europa League campaign.

"I am delighted to welcome Mike and Ian to the club," said Morrison.

"They are both players who will bring experience and quality to our squad. I have worked with Ian at both Airbus and Northwich and Mike is a player that I've admired for many years.

"The Welsh Premier League is very demanding and you need leaders in your team, and both of these players are leaders."

Wilde has been a prolific scorer throughout his career and scored 151 goals in 214 appearances in two spells with TNS.

He first joined TNS in 2002 from West Cheshire League side Poulton Victoria before moving to Fleetwood Town in January 2009.

Neil Young brought the Birkenhead-born frontman to Chester in July 2010 and he scored a hat-trick in the fan-owned club's first home league match, a 6-0 win against Trafford.

Wilde ended the campaign with 36 goals in just 43 league games as the Blues clinched the Evo-Stik Division One North title in a nail-biting finale at Garforth.

Although injuries restricted his appearances the following season, Wilde was part of the Chester squad that topped the Evo-Stik Premier Division.

He scored 46 goals in 66 games in all competitions before returning to TNS in summer 2012, winning the WPL Player of the Season award for 2012-13.

Wilde netted a Champions League hat-trick for Craig Harrison's side against B36 Torshavn last July and scored seven goals in 24 league appearances during the 2015-16 campaign.
