Chester FC have confirmed Johnny Hunt has committed his future to the club, signing a new one-year deal.

Hunt moved to the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium last summer after leaving Cambridge United and featured 49 times in his first season with the Blues, scoring once.

The 25-year-old operated as a left-back but new boss Jon McCarthy has told Hunt he plans to use him in midfield, where he featured regularly during his time with Wrexham.

Hunt is the final member of last season's squad who were offered deals to confirm his future with Ryan Higgins informing the McCarthy he would be starting pre-season with a Football League club and Ben Heneghan on the verge of signing for Scottish Premiership side Motherwell .

Liverpool-born Hunt progressed through Wrexham's academy, making his debut in 2010 and going on to make more than 100 appearances for the Dragons.
