CHESTER FC may be running away with the Blue Square Bet North title but Neil Young believes his side can ill afford to drop points at home to Gloucester City on Saturday (3pm).

The visit of the inconsistent Tigers is followed by testing trips to Gainsborough Trinity, FC Halifax Town and Colwyn Bay.

Blues boss Young said: “We’ve got to keep sure we keep winning games.

“You look at the results on Tuesday and four of the play-off contenders all drew.

“It shows how well my lads have done mentally to keep going and winning games.

“The Gloucester game is another one we have to chalk off.

“We then go into three difficult away games so it’s important we get another three points on the board going into them.”

Young was expected to make up to seven changes for last night’s Cheshire Senior Cup semi-final with Witton Albion – which took place after The Chronicle went to press – to keep the squad fresh for the Gloucester clash.

Right-back Wes Baynes may return on Saturday after missing the Witton tie and Saturday’s 3-1 league victory at Harrogate Town.

Baynes has been in mourning after the tragic death of his girlfriend’s brother Alex Chard.

Ben Mills, meanwhile, is still waiting to discover the extent of his knee injury.

The striker, currently on loan at Altrincham, had a scan on Monday.

But swelling around the knee made the results inconclusive.

Mills may now require another scan.
