Chester FC Former Players Association (FPA) is holding its annual charity golf day on Thursday at Padeswood and Buckley Golf Club, the same venue as last year’s successful event.

It's a fourball betterball competition with prizes for first, second and third, best individual net score by a former player, best individual net score by a guest, longest drive and nearest the pin.

Popular ex-Blues Graham Abel and Dennis Reeves line up again hoping to repeat their victory of 12 months ago – when Abel, who made over 300 appearances for the club between 1985 and 1993, sank a hole-in-one at the 214-yard second hole on his way to victory.

Competitors will assemble from 9am for pre-golf fortifying of coffee and bacon batches. The competition will be played over 18 holes, followed by a two-course meal afterwards.

Money raised will be split between FPA funds and the association's nominated charity Alder Hey Hospital.

Looking further ahead, the FPA have two bowls matches scheduled. They will play Wrexham on their own green at Gresford on Sunday, August 7, and have also agreed a home fixture with Bolton Wanderers to be played at the Cheshire View in Christleton on a date to be confirmed.
