Chester FC will stage a weekend of fundraising next month to support youth development and the planned wheelchair viewing platform.

After raising more than £5,000 last year, the Blues are again staging a five kilometre sponsored walk.

Taking place prior to the home game with Hyde on Saturday, April 5 the walk starts from the Swansway Chester Stadium at 11am.

A new website - www.cfcwalk.co.uk - has been set up for fans to sign up and sponsorship forms can either be downloaded or collected from the club.

Sponsors Paul Bentley Wholesale Confectionery,  iTravel Smart and Olympic Trophies will provide all participants with goodies and a medal.

Fundraising committee chairman Brian Burns said: “We really would like as many people as possible to get involved with the walk which starts from the Swansway Chester Stadium at 11am, and works its way up Sealand Road before heading down Ferry Lane and continuing past the River Dee and returns back towards the ground.

“Registration on the day begins at 10am in Blues Bar, with the walk commencing an hour later and we ask everyone to arrive in good time on the day.”

In addition to the sponsored walk, the club will holding a race night in the Blues Bar at 7.30pm on Friday, April 4.

Tickets cost £3 and are on sale at the club office while organisers are looking for race event sponsors £100, individual race sponsors £25 and horse sponsors £5.

Burns said: “We’re hopeful people will also support our race night.

“Both events over the weekend will raise plenty of money for the club’s fundraising ventures.”
