Former Wrexham boss Gray Mills will face off against Chester FC manager Jon McCarthy for the second time this season after being appointed the new manager of York City.

Mills was sacked as Wrexham boss last week but has since been handed the reins at the National League strugglers after Jackie McNamara decided to step down at Bootham Crescent.

Chester travel to York on Saturday (3pm) and it will be Mills's first league clash at the helm of the club he led to promotion to the Football League back in 2012.

Mills takes charge of his squad for the first time tomorrow when York meet Curzon Ashton in an FA Cup fourth qualifying round replay.

A club statement read: "Gary brings with him a depth of knowledge and experience at this level, together with a track record of getting the most out of players and is well known for his exciting, attacking and, when necessary, pragmatic brand of football to achieve positive results."

Former manager McNamara has remained with the club and taken up the role as CEO.
