If Chester FC go more than 25 minutes without conceding a goal against Dover Athletic this weekend then they will break into the top ten of the all-time clean sheet record for the Blues.

It has currently been 398 minutes since Chester last conceded when Forest Green Rovers midfielder Darren Carter fired home on 52 minutes during their 2-1 victory at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium on September 3.

Since then Chester have registered a 0-0 draw at Aldershot Town, a 2-0 win over Guiseley, 1-0 success at home to Braintree Town and a 0-0 draw from the derby clash with Wrexham, with both Liam Roberts and Jon Worsnop sharing the goalkeeping duties during the period.

It is quite the turnaround for a side for who defensive frailties and mistakes at the start of the campaign were deeply concerning.

The Blues, despite battling with a number of injuries to key defenders, have managed to shuffle their pack accordingly to keep the run going - a testament to the summer recruitment of manager Jon McCarthy and his desire to have flexibility and cover in every position.#

Ronnie Sinclair was in goal as Chester went 544 minutes without conceding a goal in 1996/97

Should they achieve the feat on Saturday against a tough Dover Athletic side then they will surpass the 423 minutes set during a six-game spell between September 25 and August 31 1985.

They could advance further up the list if they hold on for longer, with Bobby Jones's 1955/56 record of 427 minutes and 1954/55 record of 431 minutes both within reach.

Next on the list is 464 minutes during the 1993/94 season where David Felgate was the custodian while Wayne Brown was the man between the sticks during a run of 482 minutes during the 2001/02 campaign.

Another 90 minute shut-out by the Blues this weekend will see them up to sixth in the all-time list with 488 minutes. Here's hoping the run continues.
