A quartet of Championship clubs are interested in Chester FC defender Ben Heneghan, according to The Sun.

Hull City are supposed front-runners for the signature of the 22-year-old defender, whose current contract expires at the end of the season.

But the Tigers, whose first-team coach is ex-Chester forward Keith Bertschin, are believed to be facing stiff competition for the England C international from three Championship rivals.

Brighton & Hove Albion, Blackburn Rovers and Burnley have also been linked with the centre-back.

"I'm enjoying it at Chester and I'm playing every week which is what I think players need," said Heneghan this week when asked about his future.

"With so many games left I've just got to keep playing as well as I can and then see what happens."

Should Heneghan leave, the Blues would be entitled to compensation as he is under the age of 23, although amount would be determined through a tribunal if the club signing him are unable to come to an agreement with Chester.
