Despite a disappointing campaign, Chester FC recorded a modest increase in attendances over the 2015/16 season.

The average league gate at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium was 2,199 compared to 2,189 in the previous campaign.

Unsurprisingly the cross-border derby with Wrexham drew the biggest crowd as 3,741 watched goals from John Rooney, Tom Shaw and Kane Richards secure a thrilling 3-2 win .

The lowest crowd was the 1,425 who turned out for a midweek visit of Aldershot Town, although those in attendance were in for a treat as the Blues ran riot in a stunning 8-2 win in which James Alabi scored four goals .

Although the average increased, it remains lower than the 2,366 figure the club achieved during its first season back in non-league's top tier in 2013/14.
