Chester FC fans are revelling in their side's deserved cross-border derby win, after the Blues secured a 3-2 win over Wrexham at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium.

Goals from John Rooney, Tom Shaw and substitute Kane Richards were enough to send Steve Burr's side up to 14th and just five points shy of the play-off places despite the visitors twice hitting back.

Rooney opened the scoring with an excellent 30-yard free-kick, only for Dominic Vose to level from the penalty spot after a contentious call from referee Ian Hussin.

Shaw got Burr's men back in front just before the hour mark and Richards stepped off the bench to nod home from a Ross Hannah cross to put the game beyond Wrexham's reach, despite a late Connor Jennings strike.

The win made amends for the defeat at the Reds' Racecourse Ground earlier this year in the last meeting between the two sides and the supporters were keen to let their rival fans know that once the full-time whistle was blown.
