BOBBY Williamson has been sacked as manager of Chester City FC.

The 46-year-old Scotsman was axed by Blues owner Stephen Vaughan this morning.

He has paid the price for a run of 11 defeats in 14 games – the latest being yesterday’s 1-0 loss away to League Two leaders MK Dons.

City’s head of youth Simon Davies has been put in temporary charge of first-team affairs and will pick the team for Tuesday’s away fixture at Darlington.

Williamson – a former boss of Kilmarnock, Hibernian, Plymouth and Scotland B – was appointed by the Blues last May. Like so many other Chester managers in recent seasons, his reign started promisingly – but results tailed away after Christmas and Vaughan has chosen to take decisive action.
