BLUES striker Gregg Blundell has moved to Barrow on loan last night – and is expected to complete a permanent transfer in January.

Since returning for his second spell at the Deva Stadium in the summer, Blundell has failed to rediscover the goalscoring form that made him a fans favourite under Keith Curle and Mark Wright.

Injuries have left him struggling to achieve the fitness levels required by a Chester side that requires endeavour and graft to get themselves out of trouble on the park.

He joined the Blues’ Blue Square Premier rivals with Burton Albion winger Marc Goodfellow, and attacking midfielder Gavin Rothery from Carlisle United. The loan deals for both Goodfellow and Rothery run until January 5 while Blundell’s ends on January 1, when he is expected to sign permanently.

All three players have been made available to play in Barrow’s FA Cup second round tie at Oxford United tomorrow.
