SALTNEY Ferry will have the chance to banish the memory of their defeat in last year’s Chester & District Sunday League Dale Recycling Solutions League Cup final.

Ferry, thanks to a Jack Pickering brace, won 2-1 at FC Blacon (Leon Jones) on Sunday to book their place in this year’s final, where they will face a Dee Miller Athletic (Carl Reid, Danny Andrews, Timmy Foxon, Simon Andrews, Luke Jackson 2) side who were made to work for their last-four 6-2 home win over Corner Pin LG (Gareth Sudlow 2).

Watergates (John Davies, Dale Harris 2) won their Concorde Trophies Section A basement battle at home to Tarvin Rex (Chad Boyce) 3-1.

Western Rangers (Jamie Thompson, Peter Murphy 3, Gareth Lee) withstood a last fightback to win 5-3 at home to Upton Youth Centre (Kevin Sharpe, Tom Kennedy, Jamie Pritchard).

Table-topping Vicars Cross Dynamos (Ben Billington 2, Andrew Lloyd 2, Chris Williams 2) were 6-2 winners at home to Dee Rangers on Tuesday.

Second-placed Ferry (Chris Nicholson 2, Steve Cunningham, Tom Rowlands, Stuart McIntosh, Aden Shannon) won 5-2 at Western (Thompson 2); fourth-placed title outsiders Corner Pin (P Hogan, Aiden Callaghan 2) 3-2 at Highfield Quinplex (Chris Larson, Ricky Chard).

The top two in Chester Chronicle Section B both recorded victories – leaders Elton 3-2 at AFC Lache (Joey Waters, Dale Gilmartin) and AFC Werburgh’s (Gareth Breeze, Shawn Davies) 2-0 at AFC Hilton.

Werburgh’s (Dave Hall, Alan Hinchcliffe), 2-0 at Waverton, and Elton (Lee Guirado 3, Mark Hobson 2, Mark Dundon, Mark Antrobus), 7-0 at home to Hilton, also triumphed on Sunday, but third-placed Saltney SC (Liam McGovern 2, Phil Whittaker) lost 3-2 at home to FC Bull & Stirrup.

Lache (Jamie Kelly 2, Matt Tarbuck, Stan Welsh) won 4-2 at home to Tattenhall; St Theresa’s PC (Andy Hollinger 2, Craig Broadbent, Martin Dunnet, Mark Wilkinson, Louie Jennaway) 6-4 at home to Piper (Alec Hutchins 4).
