THE Cheshire League representative side, managed by Tarporley Victoria boss Steve Lloyd, have reached the semi-finals of the FA Inter-League Cup.

Lloyd’s team will head to the Channel Islands to take on the Jersey Football Combination on March 31 after winning their last-eight tie at the Lincolnshire League 4-2 .

Lloyd, whose squad includes Vics duo Nick Abson and Alex Rowntree, said: “On the day, yet again, the players were magnificent.

“It would be wrong to single any one player out, collectively they stuck together, with a desire and belief to reach Saint Helier, where a place in the final acts as yet more incentive.”

Malpas maintained their good run of form with a 2-0 home victory over rock-bottom Moore United in Division Two on Saturday.

The deadlock was broken when Richard Sadler – outstanding on his return to the side along with Joe Hunt – played in Dan Tinsley to score from close range.

Alex Hales and Danny Lloyd went close before Tinsley combined with Hales to fire in his second goal of the game and kill the contest.

Malpas co-manager Lea Edge said: “It was good performance on the day.

We only allowed Moore to get in the game for a short period.”

Division One basement boys Tarporley Victoria were unable to shake off the ring rust as they returned to action with a 6-2 loss at Gamesley.
