MALPAS crashed to a 7-2 home defeat to Runcorn Town Reserves in Cheshire League Division Two on Saturday.

A Dominic O’Keffee header was all the inconsistent hosts had to show for a poor first-half performance in which Runcorn laid the foundations for an easy victory by scoring four times.

The visitors continued to dominate after the break although Gary Sumner did reduce the arrears late on.

Malpas co-manager Lea Edge said: “We will get back on the training ground and work on putting things right, which will not be a quick fix as it is not just about the back four. Defending is all about the team.”

Rock-bottom Tarporley Victoria slipped to their sixth straight Division One defeat after going down 3-2 at home to Garswood United.

Goals either side of half-time from Sam Lloyd and Richard Moss were not enough for Vics, for whom Nick Abson was the man of the match.

Tarporley Victoria Reserves drew an entertaining Crewe & District League clash at Barnton Reserves 3-3 on Saturday

Rob Edge, set up by Adam Williams, broke the deadlock early on before Tom Kershaw doubled the away side’s advantage shortly after the break.

But in a crazy 10-minute spell, Barnton reduced the deficit before scoring two more times to lead. That was the way in stayed until late on when the impressive Ben Briscoe hammered in a long-range equaliser.
