THERE are three good reasons for Widnes Wolves to celebrate.

The junior football club has been presented with a £1,980 Lotteries Awards for All grant while their Under 13s have received two other welcome gifts.

A £1,900 community development grant from Halton Borough Council will enable the age-group team to compete in next year's London Cup.

The Wolves have been invited to take part in the international competition, which will feature teams, including Academy sides, from eight countries.

Sixteen Wolves players, two coaches and two committee members are to make the April trip, which will see the club serve as Halton ambassadors to the capital over four days.

The U13s have, meanwhile, struck a new kit sponsorship deal with Greensman Lawncare, based at the Moor Lane Business Centre.

The agreement was set up by Joe Youds on the company's behalf. Widnes Wolves FC are holding a social evening on Saturday, November 1 at 7.30pm.

It is at the Widnes Recreation Club in Liverpool Road and will feature a comedy vocalist.

Tickets, priced at £6, include a hot buffet and disco.
