AN RAF Red Arrow flew over Burscough's Victoria Park as the teams ran out, but neither side rose to such heights or excitement.
For Witton, against a side who had won at title favourites Telford, it was a good point to atone for their home performance against Wakefield, however.
Mike Moseley and Ian Latham sent in the first Witton efforts and Ryan Bowen did the same for Burscough, bringing a tremendous double save from Jon Kennedy.
Liam Maguire tested Matt Boswell's reactions when Danny Byrne squared a free kick to him, though Wittoners felt the foul on Andy Lee was inside not outside the box.
It signalled a short spell encamped around the Burscough box.
Moseley inadvertently got in the way of Byrne's goalbound shot and a defender did the same to thwart Anton Lally.
In the added minute of first-half stoppage time, a lovely chip from Lally saw Moseley take the ball to the byline.
His low cross was met by ex-Albion defender Andy Barlow, who slid and put the ball past his own keeper.
Perhaps to save face, the Burscough announcer said it was Moseley's goal.
Burscough threw caution to the wind in the opening 15 minutes of the second period but after Kennedy was again active Witton began to get on top again.
Lee and Moseley threatend and Jeff Underwood hacked a Byrne shot off the line.
With time running out it looked like all three points had been earned, especially as Albion had been awarded a free-kick.
But it was taken too quickly by Latham. Moseley was caught off-side and Burscough launched their own attack from a free-kick which cleared the Witton defence. Tony Gray controlled the ball and Liam Blakeman made no mistake from 10 yards.
