THE spoils between two play-off rivals deservedly went to the home side last Tuesday night.
Albion, with the suspended Steve Connors and injured duo Alex Brown and Adam Warlow, started brightly and just about shaded the
first half, but Burscough came back strongly after the break and edged the victory with a goal 18 minutes from time.
Ross Clegg provided the early threat and Mike Moseley was denied by goalkeeper Tony McMillan just before half-time.
Mark Peers' finishing let him down before, in the 72nd minute, tragedy struck. Jon Kennedy saved an easy shot and threw the ball out towards Peers on the right. The ball was intercepted by Alan Morgan who cut to the byline and centred for Robbie Booth to nip in and turn the ball in from close range.
Burscough's passed the ball better and out-muscled Witton. ALBION: Kennedy, Gahgan (Kearney 86), Brownhill, Pritchard, Barras, Spearritt, Clegg, Lloyd, Moseley (Frost 63), Jones, Peers. Sub not used, Hockenhull.
Star Man: Brian Pritchard, Mr Consistent.
Next Best: Mark Peers.
