WITTON Albion hope for Wincham Park's first 2,000-plus gate of the season when England take on Northern Ireland in the Under 18s Schoolboy international on March 4.

The match is England's only home game in the annual tournament involving all five countries in the British Isles.

ESFA's chief executive John Read was at Witton on Saturday and was impressed by the facilities.

'It is the kind of place where we can get precisely the atmosphere we want,' he said.

ESFA is 100 years old and the match marks the first game of its second century.

Chairman Steve Abson said: 'The squad was selected last week.

'All our players are in full time education and can't be contracted with clubs, though many of them will be heading into the game professionally, like Michael Owen did.'

The Republic of Ireland, Wales and Scotland will all be hosts to England in the coming weeks, while the team also have two friendly tours - of Jamaica and China - to look forward to.
