BACK to their best, reigning champions Middlewich Town have deposed Knutsford as First Division leaders in the Cheshire Building Society Mid-Cheshire League.
After an impressive 2-0 win at Crosfields in midweek, Middlewich beat Knutsford 3-1 in a key game at Seddon Street on Saturday, their goals coming from Mike Brandon (2) and Joey Roberts. Aiden Brodigan replied for Knutsford in a tempestuous game which saw both sides have a player sent off.
After last season's slump, Barnton are reviving fast under the management of ex-Bolton centre half Mark Came and following a 3-0 win against Rylands, they beat Gamesley 4-2. Dave Tasker (2), Kyle Dyson and a late goal from Gareth Langley earned the unbeaten Villagers a 4-2 verdict.
Daten won 4-1 against Styal. Their scorers were Tony Kember (2), Kieren Eves and Nick Prescott.
Middlewich lead the table with 12 points, followed by Trafford and Barnton on 11. Rylands prop up the table with one point.
Warrington-based Monk enjoy a 100% record at the top of Division Two following up a 2-1 home win over Maine Road with a 4-2 success at Congleton Town reserves on Saturday. Already five points behind are Club AZ, Lostock Gralam and Stalybridge Celtic reserves. Fearnhead are the only club in the league searching for their first point.
